Howe Caverns
In 1842, a local farmer happened on an underground fantasy world that led to the establishment of one of the leading attractions in the Central Leatherstocking region - and in New York State: hidden caverns, with massive stone formations and a crystal clear underground lake. Today, you can ride a modern elevator 156 feet to the base of the caverns for a guided tour and a boat ride on the underground lake. 2008 is our 79th year of operation since the reopening of New York State's second most-visited natural attraction, Howe Caverns.
